The ESA Sample Fetch Rover will be responsible to collect and store the individual sample tubes, prepared by NASA/JPL Perseverance, and safely transport them back to the NASA/JPL Sample Return Lander, where they will be retrieved by the ESA Sample Trasfer Arm.
SFR will carry a novel robotic payload, the SFR Fetching System, equipped with computer vision for the autonomous detection of the sample tubes on the Martian surface, and a dexterous robotic arm and gripper for the autonomous pick-up, manipulation and storage of the samples.
We are looking for a young individual that has recently completed or is about to complete her/his Master degree, with some background in robot manipulation, machine vision, path planning, and/or robot simulation environments.
