Eat, Love & Robots is Remy Robotics 20,000€ student Challenge, that aims to spark creativity and source ideas to solve one of the greatest challenges in robotics - dexterity! Dexterity is particularly challenging in kitchens and food preparation, as robots cannot yet match the elegance and precision with which chefs manipulate foods of all types and perform “simple” tasks - grabbing an apple without damaging it, picking and placing a slice of meat on top of bread... Hence, we are looking for new and creative methods, techniques, tools or designs, that can perform the simple task of picking foods from a point A, moving them, and placing them in point B. All the details of the challenge - timeline, list of ingredients, evaluation criteria, awards deliverables - can be found in the challenge webpage.
The Robots+Food=X Challenge aims at identifying the most suitable and commercially “ready” applications for robots in the food industry. In this project we partnered with our friends at Remy Robotics, who are offering an award of 5,000 Euros for the best ideas! The process to apply is quite simple (only requires the submission of a short pitch deck), and all the details can be found in the above link. We believe that this is a great opportunity for students, researcher or industry professionals, to share the great idea that has been on the back of their minds but never got a chance to pursue.
