The NEFERTARI Project aims at enhancing both technological and plasma diagnostic systems of the RFX-mod2 nuclear fusion experimental device.
RFX-mod2 is included among the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures and is operated by Consorzio RFX and ISTP-Padova. RFX-mod2 is contributing to the studies on fusion as a carbon-free energy source, and will operate both Reversed Field Pinch (RFP) and Tokamak configurations. Thanks to such flexibility, by contributing to the NEFERTARI project, it will be possible to develop technological and scientific competencies necessary to study the RFP as an alternative to the Tokamak and Stellarator for the future fusion reactor, as well as to contribute to the study of Tokamak physics supporting the Italian Divertor Test Tokamak DTT.
In the framework of the NEFERTARI Project, there will be a public call for 3 PhD students at Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DIETI) of University of Naples Federico II (call expected by the end of October). The students will be under the supervision of the Plasma Modelling and Control group and they will work on the RFXmod2 magnetic diagnostics systems update, by contributing also to the design of a new real-time control system.
The call is open to both graduated Master students or to students that will get the degree by December 2022 (specific admission requirements will be detailed in the call).
