The newly founded Italian national Doctoral program in AUtonomous SYstems (DAUSY) (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/) offers 35 fully funded PhD positions at various Universities and Research Centers all over Italy, starting November 1st 2022. The call for the first 35 positions, supervised by top Italian Researchers and Professors in Autonomous Systems, in collaboration with numerous Italian companies and research centers worldwide is available at http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/application/ and expires September 5th, 2022. Admission examinations will be fully remote and will take place from September 12th to September 23rd, 2022.

The doctoral program DAUSY (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/) is established according to the Italian Ministerial Decree DM226/2021 that establishes the “Doctorates of national interest”. DAUSY includes 25 funding Italian institutions (24 universities and one national research center) and numerous partner university institutions both in Italy and worldwide. The DAUSY faculty boast top researchers in autonomous systems from 38 Italian universities and one national research center, as well as 19 foreign prestigious universities around the world. DAUSY has the support of many faculty members from SIDRA (Italian Society of Teachers and Researchers in Automatics) who are part of the PhD board.

The strategic goal of DAUSY (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/) is to establish a doctoral school with critical mass and quality that will systematize the expertise distributed throughout the country on autonomous systems and allow doctoral students from Italy and worldwide (since the entire doctoral program is in English) to specialize in autonomous systems, comparing themselves with leading experts in the field in the Italian and international areas and grasping the digital transition challenge for technology transfer to the country’s most important industrial sectors and public administrations.

DAUSY (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/) will provide a rigorous research training thanks to a wide teaching course catalogue (http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/teaching-course-catalogue/) and will prepare PhD students to become versatile and knowledgeable professionals, with the broad field of automation engineering as a major focus, in connection to theoretical and applied mechanics, optimization, communication, information theory, machine learning, computing, mathematics, and signal processing. DAUSY Ph.D. graduates will be capable of conducting high-quality original research, creating new knowledge, deriving valuable insights, and making tangible impacts on academia and the field.

Applications are open for the first 35 positions. Instructions to apply are available here: http://dausy.poliba.it/phd/application/. The deadline for applications is September 5th, 2022, 9:00 am CEST.

Successful candidates will undertake their research in one of the proposed topics, spending three years in one or more Italian universities and research centers, as well as in several Italian companies and foreign research centers in the field of autonomous systems and on the topics proposed in the call for applications.
